Grant Description

To support the Liberty and National Security Program to: 1) work with grassroots partners to promote a balanced and informed approach to Countering Violent Extremism, both in policy and in the media; 2) provide critical capacity, expertise and resources to the continuing campaign for NYPD accountability and oversight of Muslim surveillance practices; and 3) conduct research and develop policies in partnership with Muslim, Arab and South Asian (MASA) and other impacted communities regarding NYPD’s use of new surveillance and policing technologies and $5,000 of this grant is to support travel expenses of advocates as part of the Brennan Center’s ongoing coordinating and support around CVE, including advocates’ travel to attend Capitol Hill briefings organized by the Brennan Center and other such in-person meetings.
