Progressive Maryland Education Fund, a grantee organization of Piper Fund for nearly 15 years, works to build power and capacity for change for working class Marylanders to push for social change. The organization has had incredible success enacting campaign finance reform across the state. Since the Maryland General Assembly passed the Campaign Reform Act in 2013 and established the Citizens’ Election Fund (CEF) three years later, more than five counties and the city of Baltimore have adopted small donor matching fund programs that can be leveraged by candidates running in local elections.
Progressive Maryland’s leaders are excited to join the Money in Politics Reform program’s narrative cohort – developing and testing messages that will grow support for expanding public financing programs and encourage more potential candidates and voters to take advantage of them.
