RFDC has officially launched its newest state cohort in North Carolina! Led by Emancipate NC, the cohort also includes Equality NC Foundation, North Carolina Council of Churches, Pro-Choice North Carolina Foundation, Education Justice Alliance, and North Carolina Black Alliance.
The NC cohort already has a compelling vision for its work. Over the last decade, they have seen how religion has been weaponized to justify attacks on bodily autonomy including reproductive healthcare and transgender healthcare, to attack public schools and religious minorities, and fundamental pillars of democracy. They have also seen how faith can bring people together to fight collectively for fundamental rights at the state level. They are committed to “rescuing faith” and uplifting faith voices and leadership that is focused on building a vision a more inclusive North Carolina where bodily autonomy, racial justice, religious freedom, and an inclusive democracy are protected as core values of the state. We’re excited to see how this work takes shape in the coming months!
